Summary:
Reactions in this class are catalysed by PEP-dependent transporters of the bacterial phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase (PTS) systems. The bacterial PTS are group translocation systems that use PEP as energy source and phosphate donor to drive uptake and concomitant phosphorylation of their sugar substrates.
