Summary:
SetC may be a sugar efflux transporter. It shares a high degree of similarity with the lactose efflux transporters SetA and SetB from the major facilitator superfamily. However, SetC-mediated glucose, galactose, or lactose transport activities were not observed in everted membrane vesicles prepared from cells overexpressing setC [Liu99a, Liu99].

Deletion of setC results in increased intracellular arabinose concentration and overexpression of setC from a plasmid results in reduced intracellular arabinose concentration [Koita12].
