Summary:
HspQ binds to hemimethylated DNA at oriC [dAlencon03]. The HspQ protein forms dimers and higher order multimers in solution [Shimuta04].

A hspQ mutation causes overproduction of DnaA and suppresses the temperature sensitivity of dnaA mutants [dAlencon03, Shimuta04]. The dnaA alleles dnaA508 and dnaA167 are sensitive to overexpression of HspQ. HspQ protein stimulates the degradation of the DnaA508 mutant protein, but not DnaA46 [Shimuta04].

hspQ transcription depends on the heat shock sigma factor σ32 [Shimuta04].
