Summary:
EamA (formerlyYdeD) is a major facilitator superfamily transporter involved in the efflux of O-acetylserine and cysteine (metabolites of the cysteine pathway).

EamA acts independently of YfiK, an alternate O-acetylserine and cysteine efflux permease.

Overexpression of eamA confers resistance to the toxic chemical, bromoacetate [Desai10].
