Summary:
MobB weakly binds GTP (Kd of 2 µM) and has low GTPase activity. It also binds ATP, TTP and GDP with lower affinity [Eaves97]. MobB is not required for synthesis of the molybdenum cofactor MGD [Palmer96], but its presence enhances in vitro activation of nitrate reductase [Palmer96, Eaves97].

MobB directly interacts with MobA, MogA and MoeA [Magalon02]. In the presence of the enzyme-specific chaperone NarJ and the mature molybdenum cofactor, MobA, MobB, MoeA and MogA interact with apo-NarG [Vergnes04]. Crystal structures of MobB have been solved [McLuskey03, Rangarajan03].

The mob locus is expressed at a low level under both aerobic and anaerobic growth conditions [IobbiNivol95].
