Escherichia coli K-12 substr. MG1655 Polypeptide: phage shock protein G

Gene: pspG Accession Numbers: EG11933 (EcoCyc), b4050, ECK4042

Synonyms: yjbO

Regulation Summary Diagram: ?

Summary:
The PspG protein is predicted to be an inner membrane protein. PspG is conserved in all bacteria that contain the psp operon. The PspG protein appears to affect motility [Lloyd04].

Expression of the pspG gene, like the phage shock operon pspABCDE, is upregulated by pIV secretin stress. Transcription by sigma54-containing RNA polymerase may be activated by PspF, and PspA negatively regulates pspG expression. pspG thus belongs to the PspF regulon [Lloyd04].

PspG self associates and interacts with PspC in vivo [Jovanovic10]

Locations: inner membrane

Map Position: [4,260,863 -> 4,261,105] (91.84 centisomes)
Length: 243 bp / 80 aa

Molecular Weight of Polypeptide: 9.023 kD (from nucleotide sequence)
