Escherichia coli K-12 substr. MG1655 Polypeptide: member of SoxR-reducing complex

Gene: rsxG Accession Numbers: G6875 (EcoCyc), b1631, ECK1627

Synonyms: ydgP

Regulation Summary Diagram: ?

Regulation summary diagram for rsxG

The rsxABCDGE gene cluster and the rseC gene together encode a SoxR reducing system that acts to turn off SoxR-mediated induction of the SoxS transcription factor in the absence of oxidizing agents [Koo03]. The proteins encoded by the rsxABCDGE gene cluster are predicted to form a membrane-associated complex [Koo03].

Deletion of any gene within the rsxABCDGE gene cluster causes constitutive activation of soxS transcription [Koo03].

The rsxABCDGE gene cluster has similarity to the Rhodobacter capsulatus rnfABCDGE gene cluster, which plays a role in nitrogenase reduction [Koo03].

Rsx: "reducer of SoxR" [Koo03].
