Summary:
YgeK is a predicted member of the NarL family of response regulators of two-component regulatory systems. The protein lacks the receiver domain, which usually contains the Asp residue that is phosphorylated by the cognate histidine kinase. However, YgeK can be phosphorylated in vitro by the non-cognate histidine kinases BarA and UhpB [Yamamoto05].
