Summary:
YehX, YehW, YehY are YehZ are uncharacterized members of the ABC superfamily of transporters [Saurin99]. YehX is the putative ATP binding component, YehW and YehY are the putative membrane components, and YehZ is the putative periplasmic binding protein. The yehX, yehW, yehY and yehZ genes are located within a single operon and may function together as an ATP-dependant transporter with a role in osmoprotection. Osmotic shock and entry into stationary phase induced transcription of the yehZYXW operon, which was dependent upon σs [Checroun04].
