Escherichia coli K-12 substr. MG1655 Polypeptide: predicted transport protein YhhS

Gene: yhhS Accession Numbers: EG12219 (EcoCyc), b3473, ECK3457

Regulation Summary Diagram: ?

Summary:
The YhhS protein is an uncharacterised member of the major facilitator superfamily (MFS) of transporters [Pao98]. The yhhS gene probably constitutes a monocistronic operon. yhhS, overexpressed from a multicopy plasmid confers resistance to the herbicide, glyphosate [Staub11]. In contrast with the wild type, E. coli cells overexpressing yhhS do not show significant accumulation of labelled glyphosate over a range of concentrations [Staub11]. YhhS has been implicated in arabinose efflux [Koita12].
