Summary:
The YhjE protein is an uncharacterised member of the major facilitator superfamily (MFS) of transporters [Pao98]. Based on sequence similarity, YhjE may function as a proton-driven metabolite uptake system.
ArcA appears to activate yhjE gene expression under anaerobiosis. A putative ArcA binding site was identified 202 bp upstream of this gene [Salmon05], but no promoter upstream of it has been identified.
