Summary:
The YidY protein is, based on sequence similarity and hydropathy analysis, a member of the major facilitator superfamily (MFS) [Paulsen00]. Overexpression of the cloned yidY gene in a drug sensitive background strain resulted in a four-fold increase in resistance to chloramphenicol, ethidium bromide and TPP [Nishino01].
