Summary:
yihP is part of a 10 gene cluster which is conserved across E. coli species and has been implicated in sulfoquinovose catabolism. The YihP protein may function to export 2,3-dihydroxypropane 1-sulfonate (an end-product of sulfoquinovose catabolism) but it has not been experimentally characterised [Denger14]. The YihP protein is a member of the glycoside-pentoside-hexuronide (GPH) cation symporter family of transporters [Poolman96, Saier14].
