Escherichia coli K-12 substr. MG1655 Polypeptide: 3-phenylpropionate dioxygenase, β subunit

Gene: hcaF Accession Numbers: M015 (EcoCyc), b2539, ECK2536

Synonyms: yfhV, hcaA, phdC2, digB, hcaB, hcaA2, 3-phenylpropionate dioxygenase, small subunit

Regulation Summary Diagram: ?

Component of: 3-phenylpropionate dioxygenase system (summary available)

Summary:
Based on sequence similarity, HcaF is thought to encode the small terminal subunit of the 3-phenylpropionate dioxygenase system [Diaz98]. 3-phenylpropionate dioxygenase has not been biochemically characterized.

E. coli is able to utilize certain aromatic acids as carbon and energy sources. A meta-cleavage pathway involving HcaF is used for the catabolism of 3-phenylpropionate [Burlingame83a, Diaz98].

HcaF: "hydroxycinnamic acid" [Diaz98]
