Enzyme Commission Synonyms for 22.214.171.124: 2-keto-3-deoxygluconate aldolase (ambiguous), KDGA (ambiguous)
This is the second reaction in the Entner-Doudoroff pathway. It is also a key reaction of hexuronic acid metabolism.
Enzyme Commission Summary for 126.96.36.199:
The enzyme shows no activity with 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-galactonate 6-phosphate. cf. EC 188.8.131.52, 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-phosphogluconate/2-dehydro-3-deoxy-6-phosphogalactonate aldolase [Barran71]. Also acts on 2-oxobutanoate [Meloche64].
Enzyme Commission Summary for 184.108.40.206:
In the archaeon Sulfolobus solfataricus the enzyme is involved in glucose and galactose catabolism via the branched variant of the Entner-Doudoroff pathway. It utilizes 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-gluconate 6-phosphate and 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-galactonate 6-phosphate with similar catalytic efficiency. In vitro the enzyme can also catalyse the cleavage of the non-phosphorylated forms 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-gluconate and 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-galactonate with much lower catalytic efficiency. cf. EC 220.127.116.11, 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-6-phosphogalactonate aldolase and EC 18.104.22.168, 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-phosphogluconate aldolase.
