MetaCyc Polypeptide: β-1,4 glucan synthase

Summary:
Heterologous expression of AtCSLC4 gene in the yeast Komagataella pastoris resulted in the production of a β-1,4 glucan. Surprisingly, only the line coexpressing AtCSLC4 and AtXT1 showed strong accumulation of β-linked glucose. However no detectable level of D-xylose was observed in the transgenic line most likly due to the non production of D-xylose in Komagataella pastoris [Cocuron07], as is the case in Saccharomyces cerevisiae [BarPeled01].
