MetaCyc Enzyme: cardenolide β-D-fucohydrolase

Synonyms: cardenolide β-D-fucohydrolase

Species: Digitalis lanata

Summary:
An enzyme with beta-D-fucohydrolase activity was detected and partially purified from young leaves of Digitalis lanata. This enzymes catalyzes the cleavage of D-fucose from digiproside to form digitoxigenin [Kreis98].

Enzymatic reaction of: cardenolide β-D-fucohydrolase

digiproside + H2O <=> digitoxigenin + D-fucose

The reaction direction shown, that is, A + B ↔ C + D versus C + D ↔ A + B, is in accordance with the direction in which it was curated.

The reaction is favored in the opposite direction.

In Pathways: cardenolide glucosides biosynthesis

T(opt): 37 °C [Kreis98]

pH(opt): 7.0 [Kreis98]
