Δ1-Pyrroline-5-carboxylate dehydrogenase catalyzes the second reaction in proline utilization in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The two-step pathway takes place inside the mitochondria. The enzyme is encoded in the nucleus, synthesized in the cytoplasm and imported to the mitochondria [Brandriss83, Brandriss79].
