Summary:
Klebsiella pneumoniae metabolizes L-sorbose to D-fructose-6-phosphate, which then enters glycolysis. L-Sorbose is transported into the cell, phosphorylated, and then converted to D-fructose-6-phosphate by two soluble enzymes. [Sprenger84]
